Hybrid Car Revolution: Tax credits for hybrid cars

Let's make Congress act! Why are we giving a $25,000 small business tax deduction to the worse gas guzzlers, instead of hybrid cars? Let's stop this madness. Let's make Congress act on the small business tax deduciton for hybrid cars and push them to create consumer tax incentives for plug-in hybrid technology.

Let's make Congress Act: Toyota hybrid tax credits are already expired. Honda's hybrid tax credits are expiring. Foreign oil dependency, global warming - our generation's revolution?

And how about a plug-in hybrid tax deduction? Why is there an unlimited $25,000.00 Small Business Tax Deduction for Gas Guzzlers, but not for hybrid cars?

Let's make Congress Act

-->Join the campaign.

Why are we giving huge tax deductions to small business owners whom buy vehicles that cause the most pollution and offer the worst gas mileage?

Why do we reward American automakers for continued complacency and incompetence?

Sure, Congress offers tax credits for hybrid cars, but they are capped. Yet there is no cap on how many extreme gas-guzzlers can receive a $25,000.00 tax deduction.

Why are the caps on hybrid cars limited by manufacturer, which means that some manufacturers, such as GM, can essentially sit on their credits for a couple of years? Why aren't these credits controlled by consumers, rather than self-serving corporations?

Is this how Congress rewards technological innovation and protects inept auto corporations?

Why we don’t care that the security of the American economy is in the hands of terrorist-harboring countries?

One might think that the new Democratic leadership would address these issues, but it appears that even Democrats would rather take a safe approach that protects the Big 3 and UAW jobs.

Consequently, Democrats are only focused on E85. E85 isn't going to accomplish anything if we don't produce significantly more fuel efficient vehicles.

We have to get Congress to act. It isn't just foreign oil dependency or global warming at stake, it's the American economy. Fuel efficiency is the future for automakers, and for American automakers that future starts with the Big 3 and hybrid vehicles.

Plug-in Hybrid Tax Incentives

Additionally, there should be some tax incentives for consumers that are willing to convert their hybrids into plug-in hybrid vehicles. Plug-in hybrid technology extends the benefits of hybrid vehicles, in addition to promoting more hybrid battery research.

The People, not the Corporations

Let's also move towards tax incentives on the buyer side, not the producer side. We’ve already given GM hundreds of millions of tax dollars to develop hybrids, instead, we got professional grade gas-guzzlers.

Put the power in the hands of consumers, not corporations.

Let's strive for energy independence today, not tomorrow!
